Here are photos from Theresa and Brent’s wedding at Cypress Gardens at Goose Creek, South Carolina.
You might remember them from the fabulous engagement session that we had in Downtown Charleston, SC.
You can view their engagement session pictures here.
This is my favorite shot of the day.
Aren’t these the cutest little shoes?
This is a great shot of the back of her dress.
Here are the groom with the groomsmen. Brent was the only one who didn’t have sunglasses so we had to lend him ours. This is an orange sunglass by the way.
This is Theresa, just chillin’.
This next photo was a great idea of Theresa’s. This was done before the wedding ceremony. We took this photo with Theresa and Brent holding each other’s hands but not seeing each other.
There’s something very ethereal about this photo.
I got some nice sun flare during the ceremony too.
Cypress Gardens is such a beautiful venue.
These beautiful glass works are done by glassblower Michael Barnett of GANESH GLASS, 843-406-4817 or email ganeshglass@bellsouth.net
Here are the pictures from Holly and Shane’s beach wedding in Folly Beach, South Carolina.
Holly, in this photo, reminds me a little bit of Nicole Kidman. I feel like anytime now she is gonna be twitching her nose (a la Bewitched).
Here is the bride while getting ready.
It was the perfect day for a wedding. I was so glad it didn’t rain.
After the wedding ceremony.

This is what Holly had to say about the photos.
“Silvas Photo went above and beyond all of our expectations for our wedding photographers. They kept in complete contact with us and they were there to answer any questions or uncertainties we had. During the wedding and reception you hardly noticed them there. They never got in our way or interrupted anything. We now have the wedding photos of our dreams. We appreciate everything they have done for us and we will definitely recommend them to everyone we know. ”

2007 has been a really good year for us and I think 2008 will be even better! We thank all our clients for all their support.
2008 looks really good. We already have a lot of wedding dates reserved so if you wish to book us as your wedding photographer, please do so as soon as possible because dates are really going fast, especially for the more in-demand wedding months. Please call me or email me to confirm if your wedding date is still open so I can send you a contract. This is not the time to be hesitant since January is always a big booking month.
08/08/08 surprisingly is still open so if anybody is getting married on this day, we’re available.
We also have a new and improved price list for 2008 effective this January. I think it’s easier to understand and more versatile than our old price list.
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. I’m so lucky I was able to do a Destination Wedding here in St. Thomas for my beautiful friend, who is also a photographer, Imelda.
As a photographer herself, Imelda has got the Dip down.
Choosing songs for your big wedding day is quite a daunting task. You have to take into consideration the personal taste of the bride and groom, as well as the sensibilities of your guests (meaning you can’t play hard metal just because your groom likes that type of music), as well as fit it into the structure of the wedding itself.
Choosing the music is such an important part of the wedding, because it sets the mood and affects people in a very subtle but powerful way. Personally, I would love a six-string orchestra, but of course, not everybody can afford that. But you can have beautiful music for your wedding from a cd. You just have to be careful about the type of songs that you play.
This is a song list that I had made for my friend’s wedding. Both the bride and groom don’t like music so much, so I basically had free rein about the choices. The couple was young, twenty-somethings, so I wanted the music to be very edgy with a lot of pop, alternative, acoustic and rock, mostly from the 90’s cause I love 90’s music.
A very important thing to remember is to choose songs that go together well for every part of the ceremony. They should probably be in the same genre or tempo so that it doesn’t feel too random.
Pre-Wedding Ceremony
This is music played before the ceremony starts, while everyone is going to their places and getting ready to walk down the aisle. The guests are getting seated. I wanted it to be upbeat so people won’t be bored, but not too upbeat because this will segue into the serious wedding ceremony music. The more upbeat music, I placed in front, the less upbeat ones, I placed towards the back.
Wishing and Hoping - My Best Friend’s Wedding
This might be too cute for some, but it is cute for the early part of the wedding and kinda echoes the chaos that’s happening while everybody is getting ready. It is also a great idea to look at movie soundtracks, especially wedding movies and see the songs that they have that you can use.
Everyday - Barbie’s Cradle
When I brush my teeth
or when you drive a car
sweep me off my feet
and take me very far
When I’m going out
And I’m sinking down
Save me every time
Never let me drown.
Grow Old with You - Adam Sandler from The Wedding Singer
This is a funny sweet song. “Let me do the dishes in the kitchen sink/Carry you around when you’ve had too much to drink/Oh it would be so nice/To grow old with you.”
Baby, One More Time - Travis
I love unusual covers. This is the Britney Spears song covered by a rock band in an acoustic style. That’s a great technique, if you have a song that you like that might be too cheesy or too cliche, just find a really great cover of it in a different style and it’s fresh and new again.
Kiss From a Rose - Seal from Batman Forever
Walking After You - Foo Fighters
Very sad song.
Truly Madly Deeply - Savage Garden(acoustic duet version)
Yellow - Coldplay
I’ll Be - Edwin McCain
Iris - Goo Goo Dolls
Best I Ever Had - Vertical Horizon
214 - Rivermaya
Great bass and keyboard intro. “The world could die/and everything may lie/still you shan’t cry/Cause time may pass/and now that it won’t last/I’ll be by your side/Forever by your side”
Parachutes - Coldplay
This is a very short song, it has only two verses but it’s lovely. It goes:
In a haze, in a stormy haze
I’ll be ’round, I’ll be loving you always
AlwaysHere I am and I’ll take my time
Here I am and I’ll wait in line always
Always
If - Rivermaya
Wedding Ceremony
You want the wedding march and ceremony to be very solemn and elegant. A lot of the ceremony music is going to be background music while the officiant is speaking or fillers when it is quiet. I highly recommend NOT using “Here Comes the Bride” during the wedding march because it is so old and used and abused. If you do want to use it though, Queen has a great version of Wedding March.
Pie Jesu - Charlotte Church (plus other songs by Charlotte Church)
Any song by Charlotte Church is great. It’s classical music, but her voice is so angelic that even if you don’t like classical music, it still works. It is very solemn and very formal, but still with a young spirit. I like using her for the wedding march for the bridesmaids and the groomsmen. If you are Christian, she has a lot of great traditional Christian songs as well.
May It Be - Enya (Theme from Lord of the Rings)
Enya also has a lot of great songs. I like using this one for when the bride walks down instead of the traditional “Here Comes the Bride”. When I used this for my friend’s wedding, the guests said they felt goosebumps when this song came on, which is exactly the effect that we wanted. You also have that additional “haha” that the song came from Lord of the Rings.
Only Hope - Switchfoot or Mandy Moore
I like the Switchfoot version better than the Mandy Moore one. It has a lovely violin part in it. It goes, “To be only yours I pray/ to be only yours I know now you’re my only hope.”
After Ceremony (while picture-taking)
For this, I chose upbeat, happy music. It should echo the happiness and the energy after the wedding.
At Your Side - Corrs
Hundred Years - Five For Fighting
Wonderwall - Oasis
I’m a Believer - Smash Mouth ? from Shrek
Crash - Dave Mattews Band
Thank You - Dido
I Love You Always Forever - ???
Beatles
There are a lot of good Beatle love songs. You can either use the original Beatles or find a great cover, which they have in virtually every genre you can think of. You can check out the I am Sam soundtrack which is all Beatles covers or any Beatles tribute cd.
I Will - Beatles
In My Life - Beatles
I like using this for the Father-Daughter dance. I Want You - Alana Davis
Originally by Third Eye Blind, but great cover by Alana Davis. “People always take a step away from what is true/That’s why I like you around/I want you/Yeah you do you do you do you do you do you do you do/Make me want you”
Reception (Dinner)
For this part, I chose a lot of jazzy songs by Sonia, Norah Jones, Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jr, Bossa n’ Marley, Sitti.
Come Away With Me - Norah Jones
Just the Two of Us - Sonia
Kokomo - Beach Boys
By Your Side - Sade
Message in a Bottle - Sonia
Fever - Michael Buble
There are lots of versions of this. Pick your favorite.
Can’t Take My Eyes Off You - Lauryn Hill
Crazy Thing Called Love - Michael Buble
Girl From Ipanema - Pizzicato 5
So many versions of this song. This is my favorite one.
If I was a Painter - Norah Jones
I chose this cause my friend was a Fine Arts major.
